Do your running lights come on and stay on after starting?

What kind of headlights do you have? Sugar scoops, H4? Had the lights worked befor the new trouble. You may want to check the harness connectors that go into the light switch. I recently had the problem when I rebuilt my directional-low-high-beam swith at the left side of the steering wheel. When I reinstalled it the connector was lose and the lights did not turn on. I dove under the dashboard on my back and pushed it in safely. Also, do you have the after market headlight relays?

Hi, I suspect that your problem lies with the ign switch.
I assume that you switch on your headlights and leave them on....dont touch the h light sitch, start the car and the lights go off.
If this is the case, the power for your headlights should come from the ign switch to your headlight switch, that is unless your wiring has been modified to incorporate a h light relay.

If this is the situation you will need to locate the relay, and check where it gets its supply from....perhaps a fuse on the main board.

Nonetheless, it still points to a power supply problem from the ign switch.

If you can read a wiring diagram, pages 291-294 of the 911 Haynes manual should help..... E1 on page 294 is the headlight switch....D on page 294 is ign switch.
It maybe a loose/ dirty connection on the ign or headlight switch when the engine is running , and it cannot cope with the extra current.
If you get under the dash ...mirror or just contort your body, you will see several piggy back terminals which are a recipe for disaster, and probably a load of dirty terminals.

Hope I may have been some help... If you live in Staffordshire I would look at it for you!!
