Easier to copy and paste Levon's response ;)

"Good question but let’s rearrange it. 2 temperatures to really consider, actually 3. Dyno cell temp. which represents ambient (to some degree) was high 70’s, intake air to the turbine was 84°, air temp. into the intercooler will vary depending on percentage of boost. Under full boost it reached 276°, but after the intercooler, into engine is most important, the highest was 104°. This was during fuel mapping. During a sweep of 3000 to 6500 rpm, which would simulate acceleration, intercooler intake air was 220° and into the engine was 86°."

That intercooler is a thing of beauty!

Chris, tell us about that distributor, looks to be billet twin plug, JB Racing? And what of the probe/pick-up in the side of the body?

Thx

Out of all the amazing builds I've followed over the years this is far and above my favorite. Just spectacular. That intercooler is brilliant.
BTW your going to need bigger shoes :D

The motor is finally in my possession! Now time for fitting the transmission, air filter, wiring harness, fuel lines etc...

It's a work of art!

Oh my goodness!! Do you need to drop the engine to change that filter!!?? Access to it, while in the engine bay, must be a major pita!! Engine looks wicked!

Changing that oil filter isn't bad from under the car.

First trial run for installation of the motor/trans combo.

We had a few issues with a couple clutch parts but the correct parts should be here by the weekend. In the mean time, the transmission bell housing needed notching for the flywheel sensor.

Once the engine and transmission were mated together, we could do a trial fit into the car. Obviously this will need to come back out for wiring, fuel lines etc but at least we know it FITS!!!!

Chris, your work is at such an amazingly high standard, really enjoy the evolution. But please let me know when you get to the cheap part.

cnielsen 04-13-2016 08:58 PM

Rick, the cheap part was the initial car purchase. Everything else hasn't been cheap, but I am keeping an eye on the budget and staying in the black.

What made you go with a dizzy with the Motec?

Dooodahman 04-14-2016 11:23 AM

WOW... very nice... now to hear her screaming to redline... of course we can wait till it is broken in... awesome job chris and your builder...!!!

cnielsen 05-10-2016 09:47 AM

Thanks!

First test drive was last night for a few careful miles.

Impressions....

- The chassis is very stiff. Definitely a testament to all the Elephant Racing suspension components. The PolyBronze bushings are not noisy in any way.

*edit* ...they have started to become a little noisy. Maybe more grease.

- Corner balance came out perfect on the front but 80lbs bias on the drivers rear. Shocking it was able to get that close since the driver weight is on that side and the turbo motor is significantly heavier on the drivers rear corner.

- Weight. I was by no means trying to build a lightweight car but I was shocked to see the total weight was 2570 with full fluids and driver weight! I may have to add some lead weight to bring my power to weight ratio into a realistic range :)

- 930 brakes are amazing. Pedal feel is fantastic, especially with the turbo booster and master cylinder.

- The G50.......................... I know this is an expensive upgrade, but I think it is worth every penny! I didn't drive it very far but the shifting is very precise thanks to the J West shifter.

- Seats...LOVE them!

- The motor. Its amazing how tame it feels under normal driving! You could easily daily drive it with no worries at all. I did not test the potentials of the motor at all but I did GENTLY squeeze on the throttle and you really get a sense that there is an immense amount of most likely, uncontrollable power. It will definitely take some time to get familiar with it!
