Whats the earliest # 74 Carrera known to exist? I think I read a pelican had #23 any earlier than that?

I have #22 and I've seen #17. Oddly enough, both light yellow targas.

Are we talking both US and Euro? The early euros you better check twice as the IROCs were all early issue 74 euros. I’m thinking they are all accounted for at this point but that’s just an assumption. I have #71 euro. My lowest number car is a 76 Carrera 3.0 number #36.

My ‘75
Number 144. Not original. Newly built 3.2, elephant racing suspension, SSIs, 7”&8” x 16s, 930 brakes. Most fun 911 I’ve owned.

I wish I knew. Anyone have access to the data base?
It has some really interesting stuff I've never seen on G-body cars. 3 prong center caps. Bumper accordions with different studs. BTW, I think all the VIN's were sequential so no coupe or targa would have the same last 3 numbers. |

your vin tag in drivers door frame will show manufacture date.
There is duplication of last three #s between coupe and targa as the leading #s of each vin indicate model year, country ( US vs ROW) and type ( coupe or targa) With three prong center caps, you probably have 73 date code wheels. Last edited by speedster911; 10-30-2019 at 09:32 PM.. |

My door tag is gone. I don't think you'll find a #22 coupe.

Another 74 Carrera
All, new poster here. I just took ownership of a 74 Carrera coupe #57 built 9/73. Doesn't run, been stored for the last 30 years. Ugly Gazelle (gold) paint, considering a color change as part of its restoration to running again. Been a lurker the last few months reading and learning all the things needed done.

Is your Carrera like this color gold? This one is my 1972 coupe. I will tell you I thought of changing the color of this car at one point and I am so, so happy I did not. Took some time to appreciate it, but this color is amazing. Of course, it’s a question of taste, but I wished my Carrera was gold when I bought it.

Mine has a little more brown tint. The photo here doesn't represent the color well with the finish being bad and the lighting. It looks more platinum gold here.
