Noises before unheard
Amazing what noises you hear when you lighten your car and remove all of the factory sound/heat deadening material.
Then you remove the factory motor/tranny mts and put hard ones in place. Now, not only do you feel the 911 but it talks to you. Every motor noise, tranny noise etc. Talky thing it is. Today I got it just hot enough (been cold in Az last week or so) that the aux oil cooler thermostat just barely opened. I thought someone was gargling mouthwash in the no longer there right back seat. I love listening to the mechanics of this car as much as feeling the input. I never put the radio on. The next delete I suspect. |
Totally agree with loving the mechanical noise of the aircooled cars. When I first started driving my SC (especially when cold) the sheer amount of mechanical noise made me a little nervous. 10 years later and those same noises are one of the things I appreciate most about taking her out for a spin. The steering and handling feedback used to make me nervous too, until I realized that the old girl is actually talking to you, letting you know about the grip/forces on each wheel and every groove/bump on the road. These truly are wonderful little cars.

I love the look on my passenger's face when they hear the sloshing sound near bottom of their seat. Oil line :D
