Plasti-Dip your wheels?
Well, I know that I am going to catch hell for this--because all the kids are doing it and its just not seen on these cars all that often, but I am plasti-dipping my wheels. If you have no clue what I am talking about just check it out on youtube.
Anyways, I just thought I'd take a quick poll on member thoughts in regards to the color change. As far as the actual product--I like it alot. Its really easy to work with, very forgiving, and completely removable. Alot cheaper than PPG too! I have friends who've done this and the results are great.

What makes our world beautiful at times is a white snow against a deep blue sky, the play of shadows on a sunny day, opposing colors which complement each other, and great pixels on a flat screen. What you are showing is black on black. It could be a black hubcap, a black disc, or a black void against a black tire. In terms of what is apealling to the human eye, it runs contrary to what makes things interesting or beautiful. If it is a rebel thing or wanting to look like a race car, you have done it. From an esthetic point of view it's a miss. And race cars will change back to silver or colored wheels and you will just be chasing the latest fashion, like most women.
But if they make you happy, then go with them, and opinions be damned. |
THOSE IN CA.....I gots da stuff....
|
I used that stuff on an Ikea kitchen cart (along with some welded-in dividers) to make it a 'poor man's Hazet Assistent' tool cart.

Did you do it with the tires on? I would worry about the durability when mounting and dismounting tires.
|
Yes, did it with the tires on. I see your point as the leading edge will be exposed during mounting...but hey, its not meant to be forever--that is why I didn't just paint them!
|
i did it to the grille of my '12 fusion. all that chrome just didn't look right on a white car.
before http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...Untitled-1.jpg after http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...Untitled-2.jpg best part is that if you ever change your mind it will just peel off and leave no residue. strangely it is very resistant to abrasions. mine has gone through at least 10 car washes and still looks exactly the same. |

Did the whole car...

I used it on the CupII rims on my yellow 911, great stuff and great result!
When changing tires, I 'll just do it again... Cheap enough. Will see if I can find a pic |
How can it be removed?
Is it really as easy as shown in the youtube video? Thought about painting my fuchs wheels but was afraid... |
Yep easy to get off once your over it.
|
I'll try it.
Just bought a can in the bay... |
Does it come off easily enough to spray on H1s at the track and then peel off to go home?

How is it holding up? Thanks. |
Any pictures of it on Fuchs?
Thanks. |

yes but not sure you would want to do it for the track. when i did my grille i sprayed 2 light coats 10 mins apart as a base, then 3 heavy coats 30 mins apart. you don't get full coverage in one shot. |
Looks good! And reversible, so it's a win win. I wonder what it would look like on a targa bar, mmmm.....
|
Or what about white plasti-dip petals with silver metalizer on black fuchs? Did someone say super-economy RSR finish!? This could be fun.
