Loose cable on engine harness, Where does it go?

Hi Guys,

I am doing the last of the engine bits to finish my car off, just adjusted the valves,
and doing the cap and points. I noticed that I have a spare unplugged
cable with a soft cap on the end coming off the cable harness,
and I cannot think for the life of me where it goes.

It was running on the left side, towards the back of the engine. I can't recall
unplugging it from the engine as I simply unplugged the harness
from the electrical interface when dropping the engine.

Its outputting 0.5V, and has two small white connectors protected by a
a black rubber boot. The reach of the cable seemsto indicate that it
plugs into the back of the engine, or near the fuel area (near the accumulatore etc)

I don't have air condition in the car, and the car is starting fine
with the engine in it. The cable is coming out of the main
harness line, which eventually plugs into the CDS box near the engine
fuse compartment.

Any ideas? I may just have not noticed the cable before, everything
else I can see is plugged in.

Anyway, thanks if you have any ideas or suggestions.

Sorry guys, My sig wasn't showing up for some reason and I didn't notice. The car is a 1977 911 Targa with a 1976 3.0l Carrera engine. This was put in when the 2.7 died. The car doesn't have air conditioning.

Dana,

What colors are the wires, and do they come out of the engine wiring harness -- behind the 14-pin connector, or the main body wiring harness ... forward of the 14-pin connector? Telepathy isn't working today!

Unhappy

I will have a look at the wire colors tonight, and try and get a picture of it. I am probably not describing it the best. Its not the reverse plug because that runs off the transmission and plugs into two wires next to the shift coupler doesn't it?

My other query, if someone might know, would a low battery cause cold start problems?
