911 is perfect for small kids! It's one of the reasons I sold my Triumph to get a Porsche. I put 3-point seat belts in the back of my SC. Anything 1988 and later will already have them. We all did a fun rally together and we came in 3rd place. I use the 911 for every soccer game. They will fit in the back until about 10 years old.

spawney and hopeb--

those pics remind me of when my daughter was that young. She's 9 now and it STILL my 911 companion most times it leaves the garage. I'm hoping the time we spend in the car will help her and I get through her teen years.

In case any one wonders--I do have a son who's 11 but he isn't into the car thing as much. We have our special times in the 911 but not enough for me.

My boys love the 911. They get excited when they hear me coming home and always want to jump in the car right after I get out.

My son is 17 and he's due to get his full DL in two weeks. He's been "driving" since he could see over a steering wheel. The only rides he wants now are when he's driving my 996 C4 Tip. He's a survivor of 3 open heart procedures and he's somewhat limited in in other activities so I'm giving him the car. Why not, life is precious.

Here are my daughters several years ago in a 911t (Lilly) we restored. To this day they wont let me go anywhere without them but it is now in my 993C4S. Here is also the belt set up I had in the 911t. Also a few pics before the 911t during restoration.

Great story!

Thanks for the reminder: life is precious.

P.S. I want you to be my dad when I come back around!

My little girl took a seat in the recaro for the first time today.
The little porsche cup suit was a gift from my sister.

Pic taken 30 years ago today. Picked car up in Dallas drove to Lawrence Ks to visit brother and old college buds. Back home that night 900 miles not a bad maiden voyage. My daughter was almost 3 there.

Her daughter and her first ride 30 years later

There are some incredibly fortunate children and charming pics of them on this thread--for a second I almost wavered in my no-parenthood resolve.

Congratulations on your Son !

I think it's nice your asking this question.

I don't think he's going to know either way though. My Son Matthew who's 12 now did ask why it rides so "bumpy" at about 8 years.

Porsches & Fatherhood

Porsches are unlike any other car.... they're something of a fantasy vehicle, and as a kid - I always thought they were the coolest thing I'd ever seen! Of course, it stayed with me (just like all of you) and I got one as soon as I could afford one!

Now it's my kid's waterslide on sunny days - and they love being around it....

Check out this little video I made of us changing the oil together
