lot 146 sold $55k 75 911 targa?????????

Winter 04-30-2013 07:09 PM

^ that seems crazy! Guess I better hold onto my '75 targa a bit longer!

paulmose 04-30-2013 08:08 PM

And in person it was...

.....just incredible. Got to see it during a photo shoot with Mr. Davis a week or so before the auction. We saw it again at the Friday night cocktail party before the Saturday auction.

A celeb in attendance, one of the Keno brothers from Antiques Roadshow, not sure exactly which Keno brother (they are twins) or what he might have been after.

A really beautiful Porsche, somewhat out of my budget!

paulmose. ,,,,, Thanks for the pics --- was the car original or restored ?

panos 04-30-2013 08:56 PM

Thank you for the pictures! Would anyone be able to scrounge up some pictures of the '75 targa. I'm just interested as to the level of detail of the car as well as color combination and options.

*Edit: Is it the forest green car behind the RS?

pc100porsche......

It was perfect and was recently restored, only 700 miles since.

The photos and description are still up at the RM site, plus the rest of the auction offerings.

Don also sold a Toyota 2000GT, BMW M1, Gullwing, two Daytonas and a bunch of other Porsches. Total sale was north of $23m.

Here is the RM link:

It's surreal watching the cars I've coveted when I was younger go from just outside my grasp financially to in the stratosphere of pricing. I guess it's a good time to own an air-cooled car of any kind, let alone an RS.

Is the acceptable considering the final price? Sorry but stuff like this bothers me.

Davis Auction

MrBonus

I agree completely, how many Corgi, Dinky or Matchbox models of these did I have?

There is really about seeing perfect restorations up close, every screw, clamp, hose, bracket, the smallest details just dead-on.

A 356 coupe had the most incredible green leather interior I have ever seen, plus, the restorer had the Porsche Certificate framed in matching leather!

The kicker? Mr. Davis let me get in the Gullwing. Talk about nervous, one mark, one scratch and it is done. It isn't like I can say "can I offer you my Carrera as payment?"

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1367417518.jpg

This Gullwing went for $1.2m, Toyota 2000 in the background went for $1.1m and change..... yikes!

paulmose 05-01-2013 07:20 AM

Agree again

Peter, just saw your post and agree, no one had masking tape when they painted around the tag? Or take it off and reattach it properly.

Never had the opportunity to bid in an auction, and wonder how you keep yourself in check when the car you want is right in front of you and you hear other, higher, bids coming in, so you get kinda frantic, and of course, the price goes higher, and higher......

There must be a reason for this. This car is too special for this to not be the only way. Is there a penalty for re-riveting the door tags back on or does it need to stay factory?
