Dot3 to Dot4

Hey all,

I am going to flush my brake fluid due to some problems I was having at a recent track day with it possibly boiling and having my peddle hit the floor.

From the reading I have done dot4 has a higher boiling temp than dot3. Is there any downside to switching from dot3 to dot4 on my 78 911sc with stock brakes?

Thanks

Wacko:
The brake fluid is not boiling, it's the water that the fluid has adsorbed. You need to flush your system about every two years.

I'm pretty sure dot 4 can be used anywhere dot 3 is used. I have dot 4 in both my 924 and 911, and have been fine (for street driving at least).

I do understand this. I just figured I would upgrade to dot4 since there is not much of a price difference. Unless there are some other reasons not to. I do primarily drive on the street but plan on doing a few track days a year.
