Belated Introduction
Hello,
I've been tardy in introducing myself even though have been reading the forum for a few years and had my 911 for just over a year. 911's first caught my eye when i lived close to Munich for a few years as a kid. There was a nice brown SC targa that i would pass by on my way to school every day. I thought it was awesome that a car that was designed so long ago (that was in '82...) could still be king-of-the-hill. I was pretty stoked as each generation up to the 993 retained parts of the original... Anyway, last year I could finally call a 911 my own. After searching mostly in the States (I live in Toronto) my wife politely suggested that I should stop paying for failed PPIs and look closer to home - which I wasn't doing given the low selection we have a up here. Well, that day I found a '88 targa with 53km (about 33K miles) literally down the road. It was clean and straight, drove well and just seemed 'right'. Not much documentation save the original stamps in the service books but the car was driven about 300 miles per year for the past 20 years during which nothing seemed to go wrong or be changed... After a PPI she was in my garage: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370829821.jpg Then the fun began... A few necessary fixes: - new fuel pump - rebuilt alternator - air filter - Optima Red-Top - Oil Change (Brad Penn) - Transmission Fluid (Redline) - Replaced frayed rear-shoulder belts (they were both pinched in the seatbacks) A few light upgrades: - new stereo and speakers (Kenwood/Polk) - Elephant Racing front bushings (had squeaking from TBs rubbing on A-arms) - Turbo-tie rods - Raised Steering Rack - Front Lip Spoiler - headlight relay - lowered front and re-indexed rear (down to Euro or just below - 25.25"/25") - Euromeister 17x7 and 17x9 wrapped in Bridgestone 205/50 and 255/40 RE760s (still trying to correct a vibration) - Momo Tuner steering wheel on order... Thanks to this forum I was able to accomplish all the above myself ...and here I am today: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370830430.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1370830451.jpg Thank you in advance for the forum's sage advice and in time hopefully I'll be able to contribute myself! |
Very nice, very clean looking. Welcome!

...and it's a Targa. Does it get any better? I say it does not. ;-)

Welcome as you already know a wealth of information on this board. The car is a real beauty. I just installed the same tires about a month ago and love them, could it be they did not balance them properly?

Thanks! Forgot to mention: Colour is Marine Blue and the option that sealed the deal were the heated Sport Seats.
