Location of clutch switch on '88
Help - where is the clutch switch located that is part of the cruise control circuit? Car is an '88 911.
Thanks- |
Got to be one of the ugliest locations imaginable, in the centre tunnel just right of the pedal box. The switch sits on a small console and engages the clutch lever adjacent to the clevis.
Beware, flesh eating metal all round. Tim Brain stuck in neutral, since you have a hydralic clutch, I have no idea where it is. Sorry. |
Thanks Tim, but I think your reply references a mechanical model, while mine is hydralic?? That is, there is nothing 'clutch related' in my tunnel. Any other suggestions?
|
What is a clutch switch? I have replaced every clutch-related piece in my hydraulic Carrera and never heard of a clutch switch.
|
I'm saying way more than I know for sure...wouldn't it most likely be in the area of the pedal cluster? My vague recollection is that when you push the clutch in, cruise control is disabled and when you release the clutch, it's active again. If this is the case, I would expect the switch to be mechanically activated by the clutch pedal assembly.
I hope I didn't send you on a wild goose chase! |
Richard- the clutch switch disengages the cruise when the pedal is depressed.
Jim - I have removed the floorboard and exposed the clutch pedal and master cylinder. Only 2 lines on the cylinder - fluid from reservoir and line to slave. I have had the cluster out as well and never seen any 'switch', but Bentley shows one in the circuit! Thanks for the suggestions - |
No one has a Bentley? I would think it would be in there. I'll look when I get home if nobody has answered by then.
|
Mark - That may be where the confusion comes in. My Bentley shows it in the wiring diagram for the cruise but there is no other reference to the switch in the clutch or pedal sections. My PET CD shows only a brake light switch and no clutch switch.
Any suggestions appreciated! |
Guys did you ever find the switch?
|
|
It's well hidden in the tunnel to the right of the pedal cluster. A real PITA to access!
|
hi Guys, I will check the links. But I do not think is in the tunnel because is a hydraulic clutch.
|
Its there - I have an 88, and I have put my hands on the clutch switch. Its way under there, and a real pain to access.
|
Thanks Megerian. Do you have the part number?
I am sure if the switch Porsche 911 (1974-1989) - Switches, Motors, Relays, Fuses & Wiring - Page 6 is the correct one? I did not find it in the catalog for 88 or 89. Thanks |
After checking y previous post, I pasted the wrong page. This is that part that I have doubts.
911-613-411-01-M504 Could you confirm if it is the correct part? thanks! |
