I've heard you also want to change all the O-rings to the green ones. Not sure if there is some refrigerant compatibility issue with the old ones or if it's more of a "good time to do it" thing. And then there's the oil issue, someone more knowledgeable will have to chime in on that.

Unless you are talking about replacing (effectively) the entire system like Arne and I did and not just converting the existing system to 134a. If you do the whole system, you'll have the green O-rings and ester oil included with that.

Thanks for the info...The jobs sounds relatively easy to do;
the compressor still works. Is it possible to replace all of the hose's, including replacing the drier before vacuuming and recharging the system to R134?

Update - almost 3 years in.

I haven't had to service mine in 3 years now. Used it a couple weeks ago on a warm spring drive, still works well. Drove home from Werks in Monterrey last August, 115°F in Red Bluff and Redding, cabin was still tolerable. Not cool, but not burning hot either.

Still successful, and reliable now, no yearly service required. As long as you do the job right and have reasonable expectations, early 911 A/C can be worth having.

Thanks for the update. Good for you! A reasonable outcome without having to spend several thousand $$.
