Looking for a '95 911
A friend of mine is looking for a 1995 911, low to decent mileage, red on black, with a stick. Does anyone know of one for sale? Or, have one for sale?
Thanks ML |

I don't know of any red ones...I do have quite a few numbers for higher miles cars that are going for the mid $30's. Email or PM me for the details. No connection to sellers...just cars I found searching the usual places online. I just got a call back from one of the guys today, so at least one of them is still available.

Is he stuck on the 1995 model year? I believe the `96 models have the more desireable Varioram intake. Just a thought.

I have started looking for a 96 or 97 993 but haven't done anything yet because I need to sell my 88 3.2, at least according to my boss (wife). In looking at several different resources there are a lot of Guards Red cars out there. I travel almost every week so the one advantage I have is that I can often schedule a trip in such a way that I can go look at 993s listed on eBay, Rennlist, etc. One word of caution about the 95: there are a lot of problems with the main engine wiring harness on cars manufactured through, I believe, 3/95. Porsche had them manufactured by an outside source in East Europe and there was not enough insulation between the wire in the bundle. This leads to abraided wires which causes varying problems, including the "check engine" light syndrome; expensive to repair. Check the Rennlist.com 993 web board for a bunch of threads concerning the problem. One advantage of the 95: I have seen several <40K mile cars listed at mid to high $30K.

ML, the link below discusses the engine wiring harness problem with the '95 993s. It's probably a $2,500 repair at a shop and sub-$1,000 for DIY. This should factor into what you're willing to pay if a car if isn't a late '95 or if it's still the original harness. I think the '95's are excellent cars. I wish your friend good luck in his/her search and we'll all be looking forward to seeing what he/she come up with.
