Very nice work.. I assume it is epoxied for filler sanded and then cerakote ceramic paint?

I believe he and Shaun are doing similar procedures..

There's a progress pic somewhere and it looks like JB weld has been smeared over the surfaces and then sanded down to leave all the pits filled. That's a lot of work, but the results are amazing!

Mark did my fan and housing, could not be happier, well worth the wait.

What a joke; I tried to clean it with a brass wire brush.

So basically body work.. It takes time as I weld them and then the customers send them out for refinishing.. I did this one for myself..

The powder coating looks great, however is it more cosmetic having them PC or does it ensure longevity of the fan or both. Thanks

Good morning all in Porscheland,
Has anyone heard from Mark. I've been trying to contact him for a possible fan refinishing and am getting no reply. It's been a while, even before the COVID madness. I would love to get my fan/housing redone by him, but more importantly, I hope he's okay.

I spoke to Mark over a year ago. I believe he was hesitant to take on any additional projects and he indicated that he was going to stop refinishing fans. He might be doing them on a case by case basis.

He should pass on that knowledge. That's good stuff. Anyone else doing that work that anyone is aware of?

Also Shaun with Tru-6 might be restoring these fans/housings as well.

Mark is an amazing craftsman.
I had these done probably 4 years ago.
If Mark is no longer doing this, it will be unfortunate for the hobby/restoration of these older air cooled cars.

The before:

And a few months later:

I also went with the dissimilar colors for the fan and the housing.
Not exactly factory, but the car is a bit of a hot rod so it suites it perfectly.

Mark did my fan, two years ago. Not sure what he is up to these days. I also used Tru-6 for re-plating a bunch of other stuff. I was not aware of Shaun when I found Mark. I think they are both of the same high calibre workmanship and attention to detail, particularily if OEM specs are required.

Thanks Doug and Ken, yes I do fans and housings both in Cerakote as well as original etched using my own chemistry, for early cars. I have two custom colors (3-4 colors mixed in different proportions) that are the most popular, the goal being elegant and understated. Some pics. 993 fan and housing customer wanted a white pin stripe and straps to match the body. chain boxes & covers and valve covers to match.
