Hello,I was looking up some fuel pressure specs. in the little Tech.specs.book and I noticed that the C.I.S. cars started at chassis no.911 310 1501...and my eng.no.is nothing like the ones you quote.Michael. [I'm trying to get it to run after an 18 year rest]

JJ 911SC 11-13-2014 01:11 AM

Maybe it got an engine swap at some point.

What is you engine type and serial #?

donlan 11-13-2014 01:20 AM

Fitted to 911T US
84mm bore x70.4 mm stroke
2.4 Liter
Mechanical Fuel Injection
7.5:1 Compression
140HP @ 5600 rpm
148 fp @ 4000 rpm

Not a direct fit to your chassis number but your car was completed in Feb 73 so it could be a Porsche thing :D:):D A later chassis with earlier engine.

donlan 11-13-2014 02:26 AM

I've heard that from a few people now. It has C.I.S with steel inlet tubes, swirl pot tank,001 WUR,metal roller fuel pump above l/h rear suspension etc...it has a clear sticker with black writing on the l/h side window[behind driver] DR Porsche.....911....Co2...emissions....etc. and apart from some factory/dealer options is standard.Michael.

As JJ says, but it is a 1972 engine, so definitely not the original.

I am new to forum. Did post a question earlier regarding the spec for a 911(WPOCB2967MS461717) 1991/964 I believe. The engine serial is 62MO8867, I am
pretty sure this is not the original engine, can anyone shed some light on this engine.
Thx

Ken

Ken,

The engine type M64/01(62M00001-on) was fitted to a numbers of the 911 cars in 1991.

It does not list WPOCB2967. Its usually a letter in that position.

Are you sure it a "7"? Then again it could be a "check sum" number which would not matter.

The M in the VIN 10th position is definitely for a 1991 model.

MS460001-2207 would be US Cabrio chassis.

If your car is a Cab, that engine fall in that type/serial fitted.

Why do you think it is not?

You could spend $125 and get a COA that would confirm the match but with Porsch book keeping its always a hit and miss.

Tbone1209 05-22-2017 10:50 AM

Hey guys- Update on calling Porsche and verbally getting any info from them. It's apparently not happening anymore. Have to order a COA to get anything.

I have an 84 M491 Turbo look with a built 3.8 so all that was important to me was a build date. They weren't willing to even entertain a conversation about it.

In the off-chance someone might have info on the car, the VIN is WP0AB0917ES122277

JJ 911SC 05-22-2017 11:58 AM

(misleading info removed)...

You have serial 2277 out of 2282, so one of the last one.

If your "3.8" references is 3rd of August 1984, that was a Friday so IIRCC it was part of the E program as they would switch to the F program on Monday the 6th of August 1984.

I have found this site to be very helpful. Click on https://www.stuttcars.com/technical/vin-decoder/

Good luck

Henry

Tbone1209 05-22-2017 11:08 PM

Thanks. Great information.

My 3.8 reference was referring to a 3.8L. As in 993 motor swap. When do you think the later Turbo looks would have been made?

oops... Short memory! Actually, the 9th character is a Checksum Digit that can be 0 to 9 plus X and Z.

Have fun calculating it: https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Numbers_(VIN_codes)/Check_digit
