Cannot identify this part thats leaking-Help (pics)
Good Morning gents,
I have a decent leak that is is on the bottom of my car. After crawling under, I have located it this "connection". Can someone please tell me what this is? Is it part of the oil cooler? I didnt think so since its below it. The leak is coming from where the two parts join. I tried to tighten the two bolts, but it still drips on my heat exchanger. It looks like an oil feed tube. Is there a O-ring that fits there, or a gasket? Would really like to take care of this. Thanks alot guys. Really appreciate it. http://i.imgur.com/oEbVbGw.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wuloaLy.jpg |
Engine mounted oil cooler. Right at that spot it has a rubber washer seal.

Thanks so much!
Would you be able to show me what the seal looks like? Part number? |
they, as old as most of them are may have also had a cooler failure. try the 3 new rubber seals, but it might be a good idea while out to have it pressure tested.

Thanks! is it only one seal that fits in the tube? How do they look. I cannot find it in the bentley manual.
Thanks again! |
Search our hosts catalog for 'oil cooler seal' they will come up. Round green seals.
And this tech article may help: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_oil_cooler_repl/911_oil_cooler_repl.htm |
as mentioned aboive i would pull the cooler and send it off for cleaning and testing, or jest get another kown good one from a supplier . if its a decent leak il bet it has a leak and its not the seal

I cleaned the cooler, then taped off the location to confirm its coming from seal itself. When I unbolt the two bolts, Does the seal just sit in there? I ordered the seals. Im just curious how it actually " seals" .
If the cooler ever need to be replaced, is it a difficult job? Really appreciate the help gents. |
