Been gone a long time
Just wanted to say hello to all my friends out there.
/says 'hi' ![]() Made lots of moves in the last year or so, but all my info is now updated. Can be reached at roseneck@sympatico.ca This weekend will the the 3rd anniversary of me, driving my Porsche into a guardrail /cryHere is where I could use some advice. I'm getting to the point where i'm thinking that i may be best to cut my losses and attempt to find another car. This one has been in my garage for 3 years now and i have gotten little done to repair it for many reasons (money primarily). So what do you guys/gals think? The car is completely torn apart for a groud up rebuild, interior stripped, but in general in good condition, paint stripped, all body pannels removed. The engine has also been torn down and all the parts catalogued and bagged. All suspension components are in good shape and the 915 is recently rebuilt. Here are is what it will need: -right fender -front and rear bumpers -new rear seat sheet metal -new pistons (i have a set of the 98mm cylinders so 98mm pistons would be great) -new paint all around -frame is slightly out of allignment -new hood -rear deck lid/wing -induction (carbs were in the plans) So the question is, part it out, or rebuild it? Anyways, good to be back, for the most part ![]() You'll be seeing more of me i hope Adam

Welcome back!
It all depends on your finances, and or your commitment level, as to what you should do. |

Adam,
How bad is the frame out. Would you sink alot of dough into it without pulling the frame back. I guess if you did you would always know you will always have untwisted car. Just depends how much money you want to sink. If you decide to part I'd be interested in some bits, I'm up in Orangeville........the vultures are circling

I was also beginning to think that a Yeti (or associated snow-beast) had gotten you!

If you can fix the "frame" it sounds like a great back-date to early car candidate.

My guess is from a financial stand point it would be most economical to part it and use the money toward another car. Another route would be to buy a roller and put your parts on it. Both require commitments.
Check out Jim's (MSaddiction) thread. Two drove in, one drives out. Bobby |

As for the state of disrepair, the front end (from just forward of the shock towers) needs to be repalced. Should be a straight forward cut and weld type thing. The unibody isn't out so bad that the doors can't close, but the lines are deffinetly off.
I think the part that scares me the most is the paint and the engine rebuild. Those two are going to cost me a fortune. Anyone know of a good body man in Ontario? I'm in Kitchener at the moment, but the car is in Sudbury. Thanks for the info, Adam

Welcome back!
Honestly from what I've read so far, you would be far better off finding another very clean SC and parting out what remains of your current car. (You can always first swap-over any parts you like better.) You could spend an absolute fortune, as well as a ton of time, rebuilding the car and for lack of a better way to put it, you'd still be left with a "repaired wreck". If you ever wanted to sell the car that could really hurt ya. Just my .02...
