fire extinguisher for 911
Any thoughts on fire extinguisher size and type for 911???
Is Halon the way to go, as far as clean up in the event you have to use it? Is the 1.4lb sufficient should you have a small engine or electrical fire? Thanks |

Saw a little tiny fire extinguisher at Sierra Madre a few weeks ago. Thought it would be perfect to mount in front of the shifter. Not sure witch one it is:

Bought both mount and extinguisher (Halon) from our host. Hope to never have to use it.
I got the regular-sized one (2.x?), and it fits nicely in the front passenger seat. |

Inexpensive extinguisher from Saferacer or Racerparts (something like that) and a homemade mount.

Fire extinguisher choice is difficult, not enough or wrong type of extinguisher and you are just delaying the inevitable. I am using a 2.5Lb Purple K in front of the seat. If it catches on fire I will deal with the mess. While Halon might be great for an electrical fire, I will wonder if its enough for a burst fuel line in the engine compartment. An electrical fire would require removing the source of electricity to prevent re-ignition. A Halon with a battery cutoff might be sufficient though....
