Tail light assembly rear plate gasket
I needed to remove the plate on the back of my '69 911 taillight assembly to chase down an open circuit. Does anyone know a good way to reseal the plate? The existing gasket is destroyed. Is there a source for a new plate gasket? This is NOT the lens gasket.
Thanks. |

When I took mine apart, I could see that the PO used Silicone sealant, spread thick. The were dry, so I decided to do the same. Only I used black silicone, whereas the PO used blue stuff that stood out like a sore thumb.
For added security, I ran another bead of silicone over the gap after putting them back together. |

I think I've seen people use plumbers putty in the past.

Plumber's putty won't make a mess- I think it is fine for my garage queen.
It is easy to remove if a future owner wants to "Split the ATOM". Thanks! |

I went to a rubber supply place, and purchased some "U" profile.
Cut to fit, and super glued the ends together......worked well.
