Just sayin' - not filiatin'. Matt took the time to explain some things to me about the rebuild that he does differently.

Matt is at the top of the list for future work on my car.

Wouldn't it be nice to be a car guy living in California? I would bring my 02 to Ireland Engineering (I got many of their parts for my Tii). Pacific Fuel injection rebuilt my Kugelfischer MFI. A retired rocket scientist rebuilt it's LSD. With all the local experts, my Porsche would make me poor (and single), but damn it would be done right!

I live on the wrong coast. (but I like it) We are very lucky to have a local air cooled fanatic/expert in our area however.

You don't need all them things hanging on the wall. You do need some things that you can resell or keep. It is not rocket science.

Agree. Well, I think I agree as I never had the stones to rip one open.

You have to be able to rent some of them wall thingies as well (or borrow). I do know there is a hellaciously big and deep socket you need for tightening a big honkin' nut.

For the guy that does one or two lifetime 915 rebuilds for a stock car, my hat is off to him for a DIY job. There is also the DIY hobby and satisfaction factor which can far outweigh the DIY hassle.

Everybody knows Ernst Fuhrmann was born in Nova Scotia.

He just left for where the action was at the time.

Another thing to look at is if the pinion races are loose in the case, there is no one here that can fix that properly.

I think he meant in Nova Scotia.

I will be having a peak inside tomorrow. I know it needs some work, but hopefully it is a vergin transmission. If it truly is 58k miles like the car than it should hopefully just be routine refreshing and reinforcement.
