Removing rear seats and package tray advice

Going down the rabbit hole of upgrading my car speakers.
I want to keep the stock look and rear grills so want to under mount my new Kappa 4x6’s
Any things to look for removing my rear seats and package tray?
Have searched and found a couple of things where people have encountered problems getting the package tray out

Surely don’t want to damage anything

Thanks in advance

I have done this numerous times.

Not my photo but a good example. (I drew the red circle and arrows) The circled red is an extended piece that you will want to lift up on the bottom part of the tray and slide out/up -so to speak. You can kind of see from the photo were the shelf tab has been slid out before just above the "extended piece"... You don't know its there until you...well, know its there. Some years may not have?

The arrows are where I felt on one 911 that there was an adhesive, or something holding it in place. Another car the shelf just slid right out...so, again, may vary per car/year/model.

Seat backs can get bound up a bit around the hinges if memory serves. Some of this stuff has probably never been removed so find the happy medium between being careful and man handling a bit.

If you get hung up just come back here before you break anything but it's pretty simple especially if you remove the front seats...which sadly I highly recommend. Do it once, do it right sort of thing

...and you may have to cut out holes or enlarge the holes you might already have in the sound deadening material. I had to on both my 911s.

Hope this helps a bit.

Also, this video at 1:07 you can see the clip on the back of the parcel. Might give you an idea of what I am talking about.

Would be helpful to know what year 911. I mention this, because the seat back/parcel shelf attachment is a bit different than that in the photo for earlier cars, i.e. 69 - 73 911/

Cold temperatures increase the chance of damaging the rear tray upholstery and insulation.
Make sure your work space is warm.
