Question should I oil undercoat my 911?

Is it a good idea to have my '70 911 coupe no drip oil sprayed?

You know the kind where they drill small holes in the doors and sills and spray all over? I know it makes a messy car, but it has saved my MR2 which has seen a few winters of salty roads up here in Ontario.

The thing is, my 911 will not be driven in that weather often if ever. I may drive it on a dry clear day when the roads are clean. That's about it.

My car is after all pre-galvanized and allthough pretty solid, they all have their areas if you look close enuff, right?

Thanks for any of your thoughts.

Reg

note ... i've never tried to post a poll, so if it doesnt work...ooooops!

Just drive in reverse a few miles - problem solved!

Sorry, just being silly...do they really do this? Seems like anything that involves drilling holes is just inviting more rust.

a guy i work with just had it done to his car, he did it without drilling though (just the undercarraige).
when he pulled up i could've swore it was james bond, the big downside is that it's easier to put oil on than to take off.
i wouldn't do this to my 911, i'd park it and drive a winter beater.

Thanks for the comments.

I just figure oil sprayed into places I cannot see would be a good thing.

If you're never in the rain and snow, then why bother with the mess, cost, etc?

You don't want oil, you want to spay "Waxol" in there.

You will see an advert in any British car magazine.

My car was 'Ziebarted' when new in 71. I'm not sure I would have done it because of concern with the drilled holes. But the results 31 years later speak for themselves. -- Curt
