Vary handsome. Do you have a pic of them installed on an engine?

jon sigurdsen,
I worked in a brass sand casting foundry for many years. The sand mold for your carburetor is quite complex. The cored region looks like gluing was required (???). I do have a question about the metal rod used in the mold - does it remain in the mold during the poring process? We poured some parts using metal rods that were often quite difficult to remove. Are the carburetors produced from aluminum or some other material? I guess that the required machining far outweighs all of the other processes.

There was a video of the Ferrari manufacturing facility made several years ago ('Ultimate Factories' series). They showed the mold/core preparation is detail which was amazing! I imagine that your molds, too, require a lot of hand work prior to pouring. Your finished parts looks great!

Oh, we are all going to need more information about this...

Bore size, jet compatibility. availability? Production?

Very cool.

No matter how cool they are, how does it run? I'm sure well, but a video would speak volumes.

Very, very impressed.

How about whipping out some ITB's for EFI. Any plans?

If you can make a set of carbs, ITB's would be a cake walk!

Hi

Thanks for your interest!

The mold and cores are made from Petro-bond sand, The rod is actually a tube that helps alignment of the cores, and also alignment when machining the throttle shaft.
I use six ballbearings per throttle-shaft. The cast is alu. The finish is epoxy powder coat. The carbs use Weber IDA floats and jets. The bore on these are 42mm.
I'm thinking of machining them larger..

These are my first prototypes, I will make a few more later, and see if this is something I will continue to do.
Problem is: all the jets, floats and ball bearings gets very expensive..

The carbs runs great!

thanks

Jon

I'm actually thinking about making some ITBs for my SC. This has helped with some motivation.

(Anything available locally is well over 3k)

Thanks!

Yes the jets and jet holders are standard Weber IDA / IDS. The throttles has to be made for different bores. So far I have bought the venturis, however these are quite easy to make.

sc_rufctr, please keep me updated if You start producing ITB's :-)

Great work! Is this a one off project or do you have plans to produce?
