"Not with those front wheels."

That's a truism. Just about a year ago, I put the rears on the front (16 x 7) and put 16 x 8 on the rear. I also have replaced the wipers and brake pads and the air filter (a couple of times). Oh, and I changed the oil a couple of times too. I knew when I wrote that it was like it was that someone would take exception.
However, the paint is original. The interior is original. I had to have the top end done when I came back from Desert Storm because it sat for about a year and I popped head studs. So, that's not original either. But, with 129K on the clock, I feel it's the best example of a driving 1983 you'll find. And, BTW, I can change back to the 6's and 7's in about 3 hours, if I wanted. . .

Originality be damned. Use the best components available and achieve the look you want.

I took the engine out, the gas tank, and there were some rust spots that need to be repaired so I keep on removing stuff, one thing left to another and this is where I am today:

Now my dilema is: After all this work should I go back the silver jetta look for the sake or originality and resale value or should I just build my dream SC?

I drive my car because i like the way i have it set up for me. My advice is build something to enjoy, not to worry about resell etc.

I have never been a silver car guy. So repainting silver is Against my taste 100%. I will paint it light blue metallic or Minerva blue, both colors were available at the time.

Now how original on the other options of the time I need to think about it some more.

The car has sport seats with cloth inserts I ordered some plaid fabric to redo the seats, also period correct.

I will keep the one mirror, no fog lamps and no spoiler look.

As fas as the cookie cutter wheels I think they only work with the USA ride height. I also have a set of original 16" fuchs that If I decide to use them they will look way nicer with the Euro ride height.

I love a silver 911, but if I had a car down to the metal, I'd paint it something unique to the model. Something the factory never put on one. Period-correctness be damned.
