weilding question
 
how hard is it to weild a new suspension pan and floor pan in. Mine both need to be done and when the time comes im goning to solisit the help of dave (dtw) but was king of intrested in the process.

The actual welding is the least of your worries. What you should be worried about is the extent of the rust, and the preparation of the existing chassis to recieve the repair parts.

You should make reference marks so you can replicate the position of the suspension pick ups. prepare the car to recieve the repair metal by applying rust inhibitors in any inaccesible areas you can find. and trial fitting the parts many times before you strike the first arc.

Welding is easy..... installing the pieces isnt

I agree...the welding was the easy part...the checking 4 different angles, nudge with hammer, check, weld, nudge...weld weld weld...

I had to do the part of the pan where it goes up and over the front crossmemeber....what a nightmare...I put it off and didn't drive the car at all for 2 years...

Can't deny it's not a big job. Did mine last year, had to make up some added clips and brackets. Probably the most satisfying thing I have ever done on an auto. Run a search with the thread "suspension pan" you'll find lots
