Moment of madness: now need dashboard! HELP!
Hello all,
I have a '77 911s. Seems like the previous owner had done something with the dash, and when i tried removing it i noticed that not only was it glued down EVERYWHERE, several bolts (not snap in platic jobbies) were so tightly fastened, ..and seized, that no matter how much i tried, i just could not remove the final 2 bolts. After about 90min of trying - patience ran out,, fury set in and i tried to force the issue. Long story short, dash is now in ruins. ![]() I need a replacement...so question is: find a 2nd hand (cost anything from $300 to $2k) or do i order those replacement dashes ($150) and just have it nicely re-upholstered etc??? I heard that the replacement ones always come with issues etc.... |

What ever you do, spend the money to do it correctly. The dash is something you can't help notice.
Can you post pictures of your dash? I've seen some pretty nasty dashes successfully restored.

Porsche Classic is now selling replacement dashes. I think they cost $1050 or $1100.

I think the Porsche Classic only goes up to '74.

Well, from what I am reading, you still have all your fingers and toes, so it can't be all that bad.
Used dashes come up fairly frequently. Make lemonade here, and get one that is nicer than the last one. That was what you wanted anyway. Make it so, and a happy ending will more than make up for your current frustration. |

Good catch. They're for '69-'75 models.
Based on the photo from the press release, the new dashes don't have an opening for a center vent, but they do have an opening for a center speaker. ![]()
