HELP regarding heater control box cable

I am planning to replace the heater control box cable and cable guides on my '87 911 that has auto heat. I believe that the auto heat has only one looped cable that controls both R and L from the servo motor, but PP only shows a cable that specifies that 2 are required suggesting that this is not the correct part #. Sales at PP was unable to provide a definitive answer as was my local Porsche dealer. The cable guides part # is not a problem, but any help with the cable part # will be appreciated.

Peter

If you look at the parts diagram; if you don't have a PET program you can download your car's parts diagrams here:
PET
there are 2 cable part numbers listed for the 1987, and 2 cables are required per the PET:
911-424-701-07, or
911-424-701-01 if you have an M637 option car.

You could open up the console and inspect the cable(s) to insure this.

Thanks for you reply. PP sales does believe that the cable for the auto heat is a single looped cable which I have confirmed by opening up the console, but there is no different part # listed other than the cable where "2 are required". Nothing helpful in Porsche's car parts diagram.

Auto heat uses one looped cable, not two.

911-424-701-02 auto heat single looped cable that is designated for '78-'86, but I am unaware that there was any difference in auto heat in '87' Cost $12 (O.E.M) $28 (genuine Porsche)

911-424-701-08 long looped cable designated for '87-89, but cost is $60 (genuine Porsche)

I am going to order the $12 cable believing it will also work on my '87.

Thanks again. You guys found what PP and Porsche couldn't.
