Dome light wiring

Can anyone confirm is there two brown/white wires connected to the door pin switch on the inside of passenger A post on an 86 911. My dome lights work in manual but on door mode not. Same goes for front trunk and engine light. I can ground and lights work but seems I have a disconnected ground wire common to the circuit. I vaguely think there are supposed to be two wires to the pin switch but one has fallen off inside which means a fishing expedition. Thanks Rob

Only one brown/white wire per pin switch. Switch is permanently grounded by its attaching screw, so that's the other side of the contact.

On my 77 there was one one wire I recall. Mine was always faulty on the passenger side…the least used door. The plunger type switch sometimes got stuck and failed to close to complete light circuit. Try spraying some electrical cleaner in the opening and work it a bit with a little spray lube - don’t twist the little black stem more than a millimeter if you’re checking if it’s fully extending outward to make ground contact.

Oh - and don’t forget the dome lights are a 3-position function … I didn’t have mine in the proper position when first checking why they still wouldn’t light up with door opened.
