Finding out who the original selling dealer was

Hi, I've tried to find out who the original dealer was by using my VIN but was unable to come up with anything...Does anyone know how to do so? - Thanks

I don't think tats possible unless you were able to find out from Germany where they shipped it to.
there was a sticker in my glovebox from a dealer in Vancouver back in 1978 , I think it was actually a VW dealer.. place is long gone ..

Carfax only goes back so far - early nineties - but I lucked out and have the original owners manual which contains some maintenance records and the Dealership's name - now defunct.

My Certificate of Authenticity states "Park Lane Porsche" (Dallas) delivery.

Also a few stamps showing same in the maintenance manual tucked in with the owner's manual.

I remember going into Park Lane to look at new SC's in 1981. Maybe I saw your car!

How cool would that be?

Park Lane is gone or has been absorbed, right?

I think that you're right...I have a friend who purchased a new '83 SC from a VW - Porsche- Audi dealer locally...BTW, he still has it and it still is as new. It's a dark metallic maroon with a black interior. Due to keeping up with the leather etc. since new; the seats genuinely still look new.. It's always been a 3rd car and he lives in a dry belt unlike the coast.

Our car has all the decals under the hood etc. The owner was a lawyer who had to close his business due to diabetes. It had been parked for three years as he always thought that he would drive it again. He already had a a few of his toes cut off and when I was purchasing it some years ago he was in hospital having his foot removed. His wife was selling it for him.

She/He claimed that he had the service book and the the manual that he had kept at his office so that it would stay looking new. During his illness his family had recently moved dozens upon dozens of boxes out of his office to their three car garage The boxes filled the whole parking spot up to around four feet+ high. His wife looked until she told me that she just could not look any further hence no books. Lots of receipts from over the years but just no stamped book.

This may be of interest to most. I only paid $10.00 to get genuine Porsche info about our car; even such things as the tranny's serial number. I purchased it from South Coast Porsche in Florida. You pay them the $10.00 and they will email you all the info the next day. It has everything about the car and all options. I just printed it out and put it with the cars files.
