911SC head studs
Please excuse the dumb question, but I'm looking at a car that reportedly has one broken head stud. Is it logical to replace all of them studs if one is broken?
Thanks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

You have to take the cam tower/head off and often the jug. Major work and it would be a false economy at that point to not replace the dilivar studs.

All the lower dilivars with steel, yes. Top row is already steel.

Lots of discussion in the engine rebuilding section about this topic. Some do all. Some do lower Dilivar ones new only. A lot has to do with mileage and engine condition and the multiple choices of replacement studs....
For mine at when I did it with 82,000 miles. I re-used the top and installed all steel in the bottom 4 years ago. Not a race engine or heavy duty use, just a daily runner when I feel like it. Good luck.....

I would do all the studs.
Have you had a leak-down test done? Valve/guide may need doing at same time. If no chain tensioner upgrade - good time for that too.

More to the point can you get the car for a good price with this known issue? An SC with a rebuilt top end and transmission can be a very nice car to own.

Best of luck, but I've found most 911 owners think their cars poop the unicorns that poop the rainbows. (oh sn

He'll need to knock off about 6 grand for it to be a wash.....when it's all said and done.
I've never seen one with mileage opened up and everything was 'great' on the top end and if you are paying for a dis assembly then (valve guides, seats etc.) it just adds up if you have to go there.
