help: pedal vibration/tranny noise???
i recently reburbished my entire susp - all new bushings, adj spring plates, blah, blah - and have since noticed a vibration in the gas pedal which also resonates throughout the cabin. when i depress the clutch the sound and vibration stops. so it's not the new yokos avs int, poly bushings or newly lowered stance. i replaced the clutch and fly wheel after the susp project and sent the tranny out for rebuild. explained to eliminate these factors but the noise/vibration is previous to these repairs.
taking a wild shot in the dark - can this be cv joint related? i have read that failing cv joint click when in motion but do they make a grinding noise as well? where do i start looking? thanks in advance! bob 68L |

Check your clutch cable routing; it may be contacting the throttle linkage and transmitting vibration. Some models have a fabric strap to hold clutch cable off linkage. This strap is sometimes overlooked when dropping the engine and is then torn and discarded or left unused. Jim

Did you replace the TO bearing when you did the clutch?

thanks guys. i am hoping that it is something as simple as cking the cables. i do recall cursing myself for forgetting to place the washer back on the lever that slides on the rod from tranny held in by washer and cotter pin.this actually seemed to have spaced out the rod through the tunnel such that it does sometimes rattle against the tunnel. it's only at freeway speeds that it is the most annoying.
i will double ck this weekend since i will be under the car to change out the tranny fluid. the TO bearing was replaced during the new clutch. anything else i need to ck this weekend. again thanks. i will ck and reply. bob |
