Cold Start Valve Micro Switch

Guys

Getting around to testing my CSV since I have the throttle body off and can get to it easily. Can anyone tell me whether the micro switch circuit is in the open or closed position in the attached pic. I think the circuit is closed in the pic, as the metal tab should spring up when the throttle lever is pulled up, but I just need confirmation.

Cheers Daren

Daren, the circuit is closed and completes the circuit when the throttle lever is pulled up.

Darren,

It is hard to see clearly the contact switch from the picture. Maybe because of my eyesight. My suggestion to you is to test it. It does not matter whether it is opening or closing but is it working properly. That the switch delivers power to CSV when activated. Use a 12-volt test light for the test. Keep us posted.

If I recall correctly, it is a normally open switch when installed. I don't recall the exact position of the switch when installed, so I can't comment on the picture. When the throttle is pulled up, the switch is supposed to close.

Here's a page that shows the general layout of the cold start circuit on the early cars:

Correct: throttle lever up = metal tab up

Thanks Guys

CSV doesn't appear to be spraying when I shine a torch in there and look at it whilst cranking. But that just might be my poor eyesight !. I'll test the switch and take the CSV out to test it properly and get back to you.

Daren
