Question Piston Cooling Jets

Is it possible to check and see if the piston cooling jets are clean and functioning? I have my engin totally apart but can not figure out how to test the little jets to see if the passage is clear!
Thanks for any help...Tracy

what I did was tape off ALL oil galleries on the case half (except the one behind the jet) and squirt a little WD40 into the one open gallery (if I remember right, use the corresponding main bearing gallery) and blow with compressed air regulated to about 40 psi and watch for the WD40 to spray out.

It takes a little pressure to overcome the spring in the oil jet.

I had one that was blocked. I soaked it in techron and it cleared it up.

I am glad your checking these oil jets.

Hope this helps.

I fogot to mention taping off all the other oil galleries will help you build some pressure in the galleries.

I will post how I make out after I check them!
