Arrow black or silver targa bar

Was there a certain time when Porsche went to the black Targa bar? I notice some 76 models with silver, but also some with black. Is the black an owner modification? How difficult would it be to change it back to the silver brushed aluminum?

I think the 2.7 Carrera was first circa '74 -'75. Then an option on the 2.7 911S. Standard on the 3.0 Carrera. By '78 I think it was standard on an SC and chrome look was an option. My '75 911S has black trim as an option.

stainless steel Targa Bar on 2.7 and stock '78 SC, and black on Carrera 3.0 in '76 and '77, as a sport detail (such as light masks)... I own a '76 Targa Carrera 3.0, and the point is now how to paint this bar,and especially how to fix some antenna holes done in it... any suggestion?

O, if you decide on painting it take it off and powder coat it. I have had good luck painting it as did another guy on the board. Having said this however, the paint in certain spots is getting thin from top RnR and body flex. I will be stripping it again and having it and the door handles powder coated.

I need to check, but I'm quite sure the black look (inc. Targa bar) was an option on 2.7 911S models from '75 - so they could have a "Carrera" look. This from Factory Brochures.

Wurth Satin was/is paint used at the factory. I believe that there is a tech article on Pelican website showing an actual repaint.
Car Care Specialties at www.carsonline.com have the paint and are very knowledgeable.
good luck!
