1986 carrera blue-white smoke
I have a 1986 - 911 carrera. Couple of years ago I had the oil line changed because of leak. I have to travel through canyon and mountain that has a steep gradient. After the car comes down from the canyon pushing on the pedal causes a blue-white smoke. Initially mechanic in my opinion put too much oil but now even when the oil level is low the smoke comes. I have this car with me now for 30 years and have 105,000 miles never given any such problem and when the blue white smoke comes it is very embarrassing. No problem with the smoke from the cold start or otherwise.
Appreciate help. ![]() |

Smoke
Any smoke after decel on an older car is almost certainly valve guides. No problem till you decide you're tired of adding oil too frequently. My personal limit was adding a quart every 500 miles or so. If you can work on yourself, its not too expensive of a job (in pcar dollars). At 100k total miles, I would do the top end only for sure which a diy'er can do for less than $2k. A few logical maintenance "while your in theres" will push it to 3k. Gotta frame it as a "fun learning experience".
