QSC Cylinders

What is the consensus on QSC cylinders these days? I have alusil on my 3.0 engine and was originally considering re-ringing although have changed my mind. Of course the "while you're in there" bug has kicked in and now I'm considering additional displacement. However there is a budget to be considered.

I saw these which are only slightly more than having my cylinders replated.

Has anyone used them. I'm also assuming I can use these on my 3.0. If not I will just replate my cylinders and keep everything at 95mm.

The same website shows the cylinders and pistons for $2258.00. Your SC has different size wrist pins than the Carrera (I think? To early to be sure) but you might be able to get them to provide a kit to make your 3.0 a 3.2 Short Stroke.

I have no experience with these parts but hey, parts are parts. Curious to know if anyone has any real, firm, factual, good or bad, info on these.

I would just use the cylinders and get 98mm 3.0 pistons from JE.

We had a couple of engines built by Supertec with QSC cylinders several years ago. We didn't have any problems and they were good engines. That said, I believe Henry did a lot of QA inspection and rejected any discrepant parts. So buying a set direct from QSC might not be the same. You might consider having your cylinders bored out and plated by EBS and getting JE pistons for a 3.2 short stroke.

I enquired with Henry about QSC cylinders not so long ago, he wouldn't recommend them these days.

Apparently you can't do that with the 3.0 cylinders. So I would have to find a set of 3.2 cylinders and have them bored and replated. That's beyond my budget so I would just keep what I have as 95mm if that was the case.

Yeah, I think you're right. I was thinking of the 3.2. Depending on your engine specs you might be able to get some power from higher compression pistons, like the later euro engines have, and some cams.

The 3,0 SC cylinders can and are bored for 98mm. Some will point out that the thin lip left at the top of the cylinder can be a weak point.
