We just use the early stud 901.101.172.03 and have done for about 7 years now.

Never had one fail or pull out.

We do use them on the top and bottom of the engine.

I am sure that there will be others that disagree but any stud that is made from a Ferritic or Martensitic Steel will have virtually identical CoE to the standard stud.

You win some you lose some, time to make your engine fresh, spend a little to add a few HP with some upgrades.
I am up to speed with all of this. Our beloved Porsche's are high performance machines and after all, "speed costs, how fast would you like to go?

Thanks even with the part number...

From what I can tell our host does not offer that part number, most of theirs are prefixed with a PEL number, but several have a 993 - and 930 prefix.

Chris, where are the 901.172.172.03 studs you speak of available?

and how$$ in USD

Google 90110117203 (you don't have the part number correct)
My local Porsche dealer has them for $7.11 each.

Pelican shows they have them (the part number has been superseded). The OEM ones are the second option on the page linked below.

Bob's no idiot; he got a little riled up in this thread, but he is one of the most helpful, and funny, guys you will ever meet (on or off the forum).

Ok so we need 90110117203.

What about torque specs.

Since we are changing from Dilavar to Steel is there another torque spec involved?

Why was Bob banned? No warning? Did he post a penis? It is a stud topic...

I could have made the same post without the "color" in two sentences.

I apologize to 930cabman with sincerity.

As usual, with most flames, something else was bothering me.............so let's see, I'll just beat the snot out of 930cabman and I'll feel better.

Not fair and I apologize.

I thought it was funny, but sarcasm does not go well in text message.

But I could have sworn they banned you cause you where ugly....must have been mistaken.

Anyway back to technical content. My 36 year old SC decided to throw his studs out of the pram of#3....

One can't even experience humility with honor here.

I am so ugly. On the upside, a girl at the Speedway gas station said something nice about my tooth the other day.

I have watched Jack Reacher about nine times since you turned me onto it, Rich.

FWIW, The Edge of Tomorrow is a very good movie. Yes, Big Tom.
