Curb rash repair - Frederick, MD 21701

Hi All,

I DESPERATELY Need help. I need to get some curb rash repaired ASAP.

Just did it this morning. I'm travelling for work, my brother generously loaned me his 2008 911 Carrera S, while he is out of town.

So, I am looking for a reputable, reasonable shop to repair the curb rash w/I the next week.

(He flies in the day the same day I fly out and I don't want him to have to deal with it - bad enough he will still have the tire to deal with. That doesn't even begin to get into how miserable I feel about the whole thing - but anyway . . .)

Can anyone recommend a trustworthy place I can get this taken care of, hopefully this week?

I've been searching the forum, but can't seem to quite get precisely where I need to. Since I'm in a hotel, I'm not in a position to attempt the work myself.

Thanks Mitch! I may try to hit them up on the phone - it's about an hour one way for me, so will have to see about getting time off work to make that work.

I appreciate the response.

the current wheels are the originals -

Can't you just sand that down with a small file or 60 grit??

was a bit scared to try anything like that on my own.

my goal is to have it as close to invisible as possible. it was pristine until this morning.

He is not going to disown me, but I would my goal is to make this as right as possible.

Do you think if I try the 60 grit, it will make it any more difficult to repair it, if that doesn't make it go away?

Thanks!

Mike - not to sound daft, but what is PM? P Manual? If so, I can do that - it's in the trunk. If it's not the manual you are referring to, please let me know. I've only borrowed once before, so aside from basic operation, and of course, the complete sweetness of the vehicle - I don't know anything Porsche / Carrera-specific.

thanks

Yeah, but what about the tire damage? Looks like a bit of a cut to the sidewall there...

AWRS will come to your location and typically do the repair on site. That damage looks like it's in the on-site category.

Tire needs to be replaced, no question. Don't try to hide this from your brother.

She doesn't need a tire. That cut is nowhere near the cords in the sidewall. I see stuff twice as bad as that all day long and there is no need to replace the tire. The only damage that tire has is to the rim protector portion of the sidewall.

So much for 'rim protection'...

Thanks for that - and maybe I didn't say it clearly enough - I was trying to make this as right as possible, which, in no way even implies that I would try to hide it from him, simply wanted to be responsible for my own actions. Coulda just left him cash and a note - however, I don't operate that way.

He's on vacation out of the country, and, again - didn't want him to have to deal with it!

I have every intention of showing him what I did, and, should he decide he needs a new tire, I'll pay for that, as well.

If I find myself needing to sand something down in the future, rather than 60 grit, perhaps I'll try a brick -it's all about finesse.
