KS "Euro" pistons in 9.8:1 CR??
In my search for something that everyone else is looking for to upgrade the early SC (8.5:1 stock CR)-- higher compression pistons-- I have found a guy who claims to have Kolbenschmidt (sp?) Euro 9.8:1 that were taken from an '83 Euro 930/10 engine.
Most info I have is to stick with Mahle, period, even though a good set of used higher CR pistons is not easy to find. Also, it seems that there is doubt that KS ever made a piston that was higher than 9.3:1. If this is the case, and there really is no way of "visually" inspecting the pistons, it is not worth the cost to change to KS / Alusil cylinders for .5 increase in CR. I have been informed that Mahle/Nikasil is all around superior. Anyone have a clue here, or some Mahles they want to sell... or some 3.2 Max Moritz sitting in the basement? Thanks, John ------------------ '78 911 SC 3.0 |

I an '83 930/10 engine "guaranteed", or designed from factory at least, to have 9.8:1 CR via Euro pistons?
Making the leap that KS pistons stock, does it follow that KS made 9.8:1 CR?? ------------------ '78 911 SC 3.0 |

John,
Yes, all 930/10 engines had 9.8:1 compression, but p. 40 of the '78-'81 spec book only shows Mahle p/c specs for the 930/10 engine. ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa 1992 Dodge Dakota 5.2 4X4 parts hauler |
