Show me your Steelies?

There seems to be a "show me" thread for everything about a 911/912 except steel wheels, yes, I looked
Soooo, lets see em! I'm keeping the steelies on my 68 912, but I was hoping to see some cars to get ideas. Much appreciated.

Not the original color but it is a 356 color. It was originally Irish green but I don't like green and thanks for the compliment.

Why don't you post a picture of your 912 to help get it started?

Fair enough, Mike
This is from last spring. It basically looks the same except I have taken the caps off and painted the wheels silver when I put new tires on.
It's been slow going but ultimately I'm hoping to lower it to 24 1/2" at the top of the well.
Something about the old narrow bodies with steel wheels that speaks to me I'll post an updated pic this week when I get a chance to run by the shop. (lost a bunch of my pics in a phone disaster)

Steelie's are cool, but they're boat anchors.

Rich, that is a thing of beauty! Perfect stance! Please tell me that ride height wasn't too extreme to achieve....

I agree, they're just a different look from Fuchs. I change back and forth about twice a year.

Thanks.

I recommend taking it to a reputable shop for lowering, alignment, and corner balance. You won't regret it.

Neither of these are mine, but...

And this one, I can't tell right away if those are steelies or 944 Turbo aluminum spare wheels? I'm leaning toward the latter.

Another View

Thanks Mike.

Here is another view. These are a special type of "steelie", they are an aluminum version produced by Willhoit. Lighter than 15 inch Fuchs, similar to 904 wheels just wider. The ones on my car ar 15x7s front and rear with factory offset. I'm using a 7mm spacer on the rear to fill the wheel well.

Rich - I like your car better with the steelies.

BTW - I agree with you about corner balancing. It is well worth the money. It's just tough finding a shop that is skilled at doing it.

Yeah, I'm now more sold then ever on the steel wheels "look". I likes me some Fuchs for sure, but something about the SWB narrow cars that make them look more "weekend racer"? And the Dunlop lettering….perfect.

Dave, dare I ask how much those wheels cost?
I probably won't ever drive my car in any competitive way so the additional weight won't make much of a difference, and I'm pretty sure the 195 Pirellis will be more than enough contact for me, but I'm a sucker for a nice pair of shoes if they're in the budget.
***I just saw their website, if the wheels are around the same as the 356, then that reasonable. Of course now Im all drooly over the 2.1 liter engine kit, so thanks for that
