pics of 3.2L motors

going to pull the motor for some work and am thinking about what details might be nice when i put the motor back. Pics of intakes, fans, filters, or any interesting engine bay details that have been done would be great

Just cleaned the snot out of everything, polished the fan shroud, flat black on the fan and a little black on the 'Porsche' lettering on the intake halves...pretty plain, but much nicer then before the teardown.

keep'em coming - I'm trying to figure out the correct "yellow" for replating some engine brackets/etc. and the spring plates. Is the plastic cover for the fan nut still available? I don't know where mine went.

When I took mine out I took hundreds of pics of every possible angle and used them all.

I'm doing the same. I got stuff yellow zinc plated. and the alloy and magnesium vapour blasted. I highly recommend the vapour blasting. It's unbelievable!

I will absolutely get Mark Motshagen to work his magic on my fan next winter. I just didn't have to time for turnaround on this refresh. He is an artist!!!

My take on a modified 3.2 engine. Enjoy.

My daughters 3.4 (ex 3.2) build. Going for a simple black and silver look.

Lots of grinding to make the intake look sweet. Worth the effort in the end!

Thanks for the compliment. Honestly, it is actually pretty stock - at least in terms of the engine bay itself. I just removed everything I didn't want/need:

Cruise Control servo and cable
Heater / blower and duct
Ducting to heat exchangers (I have headers)
AC compressor, belt and bracket
Decklid condenser
Oil tank breather hoses and check valve to intake - tank now vents to catch can
Charcoal canister and associated hoses to intake
Fuel tank vent hose to intake - tank now vents to atmosphere in front fender
Left side fuse/relay panel - deleted most of the stuff in there - rear defrost, etc
Sound pad

No build thread unfortunately as my car has been a work in progress for twelve years. The only thing I've not touched is the G50 itself.

^^^ I believe that is a magnetic/cooling sleeve that goes over the filter.

I'll call snake oil on those oil filter coolers. They do something - does it help or hurt overall, I'm not sure. I don't like the looks and putting more heat in the air intake area. We already have a magnetic plug. It might affect the oil temp. by taking longer to warm up - that's not good IMO. Is the engine overheating? For most of us I don't think so.

Here is mine - 55k miles. Couldn't find black wires locally and got stuck with the red.

Was cleaning some grime off of the fan and got things too shiny. Hope it will dull over time (but it has already been two years...)

That is a fantastic-looking motor, but you may want to get a sticker that says "Not touched by Motormeister"...Red fans have a bad reputation.
