Input needed on RSR rear seat delete

I have decided to do an RSR-style rear seat delete on my turbo project and have hit a snag.

I would eventually like the rear to look like this:

So far I have removed the rear seat and sound deadening, and stripped off the remaining adhesive.

My question relates to what people have been doing with the stock rear seat attachment points. It seems like if you left them in place the carpet would look bumpy. Thus, I am thinking about removing them and doing the required finish metal work so they no longer exist. These are the areas:

Have those of you who have performed the conversion removed these items?

Any other words of wisdom at this stage?

I will never convert the car back to having a rear seat so I am not worried about originality issues.

Thanks for the input.

Use 1/2" closed cell foam to replace the original sound pad. You can add a little more around the protrusions, just taper the foam away from the center.

Removed it all, but not going to cover with carpet.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1494810567.jpg

You can build a rear seat delete storage compartment. Use it instead of the front trunk. All the storage weight is amidships. Let me know if you need advice.

Here's what I did.

Check the used parts forum.

Sebscst - nice job. Was there a reason you kept the seat back swivel post attached to the wheel wells while you were removing the other pieces?

Fast Mike - is that a carpet kit or did you have that custom made? It looks really nice.

It is the plush rs kit from Appbiz.

Mopar, yes im still on the fence with adding a hoop style roll bar. That would be the rear attachment post.

I'm in the middle of this project installing an RS carpet kit from Lakewell. I opted to cut the darn thing off together with a few of the bungs. I left the four bungs that the rear deck lid attaches to, and I'm using these to attach a few plywood panels to smooth out the carpet. You can save almost a half pound removing the anchor. Easy to hack off with a pneumatic wheel.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1495063604.jpg
