These videos from this guy are great, and this one excellent as well. I plan to do this one myself.

Absolutely delightful as always. Every video has unbelievable narration gems. My favorite from this episode begins with: "so the designer went to the purchaser guy and said, call Bosch and buy us a little red thingy..."

I have owned my 85 911 for 26 years. I feel sure the tail light housings are plastic. Is the OEM housing aluminum? Did a previous owner replace the housings? They work fine, especially with the LED boards for the brake lights.

Just curious, are all the Carrera models supposed to be aluminum tail light housings, or did that change at some point in the G body?

The OEM housings is cast alloy, probably a zinc aluminum mixture. They are quite heavy. There are aftermarket plastic ones, but the quality is noth good.

"I start to believe however, the phenomenon of contact corrosion was not widely understood back in the days."

This line made me LOL. As did the red thingy section.
