I think it's for a factory tow hook. Should be in the tool kit if it's still with the car and threads into that hole.

Thanks for the kind words on the car, all! And thanks for the link, Dmitry! I also have a copy of Wayne's "101" book. Great resource!

To keep things interesting, here's a photo from last weekend, out and about.

Awesome car, what a great color combination! Regarding your rear reflector, that actually looks like the correct reflector, but the "Porsche" lettering is red?! The '87+ logo was smaller, wasn't it? Can anyone else confirm this?

Nice car!! Good luck with it. Looks like it had a rear spoiler on it at one time. It still has the front spoiler and they came as a package.

for what its worth from one Moss Green 86 Coupe to another, I was told by a very knowledgeable Porsche guy in the region that it was the preferred color of the Porsche family for their vehicles since it was "subtle" and didn't call as much attention.

Mine was bastardized from the start so I had no qualms about continuing the process. Your paint is flawless, mine was like this when I got it six years ago now.

Thanks for all the kind words! And nice car, McLaren! I like what you've done with it, looks like it's come a long way!

86 ssinit, you may have solved the mystery of my repainted decklid! I thought it might've been replaced because of a fender bender, but it would also make sense that it was replaced to delete the tail.

Now to figure out the reflector... it LOOKS like the black lettered ones, but without black letters. The PORSCHE script is wider/bigger than the 87-89 reflector. Hoping someone has some info on this.

For an '86, the OP has the wrong rear reflector.

Pre-86 has large black letters.
87-89 is more subtle

Ran into an electrical drain which ultimately revealed an aftermarket alarm system installed by the PO. I had nothing to control it, so I had it towed to TLG, and Marco got the whole thing out of there, and then some! Look at that huge rainbow ribbon cable! I can’t believe all this sloppy extra crap was in there!

And here’s a nice shot I took over the weekend.

That's gotta be a good feeling to remove useless complexity.

LOVE this thing! I had Coco Mats make me a custom rear deck mat, and it’s the greatest thing ever. No worry about marking up the seatbacks with my cargo, and it looks way better! Also got some rear mats to finish it out.

She's beautiful! Love the green, not many of those.

You'll love the Euromiester 7 & 9's on there, very reasonably priced. Agree with your choice of the '86, wish I had the larger vents. Strongly recommend the Seine mod for your 915, I've had three of these transmissions and it's the best mod I've ever made to a 915 equipped car.

The amber lenses look great with the moss green!

Happy motoring! Scott

Thanks guys! And thanks for the 915 tips. As for the Euromeisters, I did end up buying some, but ultimately wanted to try a different 16” wheel before changing to 17’s. Here’s a current shot of my car on 16x7/8 BBS RA. Gotta put on my center caps and lower it a bit, but I love the look.
