G50 Torsion bar tube foam blocks?

Greetings;
Upon removing the AC lines from and through the gap between the rear torsion bar tubes and the rear seat body area, I also removed a foam rubber block from each side. See photo of my ‘87 Carrera.
I am wondering if the whole gap between the front of the torsion tubes and the body should be plugged with similar foam to prevent hot air recycling.
Thanks!
Donnie Stanford

I recalled seeing something about that foam - I think this was it below. Seems like it may be more for moisture control.
