Congrats on the completion. The barn find is the best. Found a few gems but nothing like this. Dreams do come true. Enjoy and keep hunting. You never know what will turn up. Thats the joy this hobby brings. The people and the cars. Stay safe. Thanks Rob.

I couldn’t see a roll cage in the bare shell pics - what’s the story with that?

Just kidding. I know you couldn't say anyways.
Marc there was absolutely nothing on this chassis and when I say nothing I mean NOTHING. Torres had many of the parts needed to put this car back together but he did have to buy a few things including some parts he had previously sold to other people and was growling at what he had to pay to get them back LOL. As to the buried treasure I truly feel like I found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow becuase of the journey and gracious compensation that has come my way becuase of it. Richard

I know I'm extremely 'late to the party', but a longtime personal friend was involved with the Whittington Brothers racing effort.. He may be an additional source of information for you!!

We are always looking for additional info, the amount of stories and info I have garnered from Jim Weber over the last 2 days is incredible.

Well the day has finally arrived, after 2 1/2 long years this gorgeous Beast is getting ready to hit the this famed track again. Nick P. Alegra Motor Sports mechanic is performing pre-race maintenance while Jim Weber who was the crew chief on this car when it won here at Daytona in 1979 watches on.
We are racing today so wish us luck, how cool would it be to start off the re-birth of this car with a win a Daytona!

Richard

Yes that would have been nice Byron, you are definitely missing out on a really special moment in history both present and past.

Ultimate show place

If you get the car done in time the perfect showing is Amelia Concours next year. Featured car is the Porsche 935 and they are building a pretty nice showing of as many as they can get committed.

Incredible story about an incredible car. I was at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1974. Four of us went from the camp ground through the woods to the Mulsanne straight the night of the race (there were virtually NO barriers other than the woods themselves). We sat on a split rail fence just a few feet from the track (road) in the shadow of bushes so the headlights would not reveal our presence and tried to watch the cars go by. It was impossible to turn your head fast enough. If memory serves - I was watching 934's because I believe the 935 came later. I hadn't thought of that night for years before seeing this story. Thanks for the memories.
