These tool kits did not come with a tow hook. It is only missing one screwdriver blade, small adapter for the power seat crank, and original fan belt.
It is for 1988-89 models, tool bag has different pocket sizing than other year tool bags. Can be used for earlier models too of course. Very rare and nice one. It is very hard to find these tool bags without holes or tear, vinyl is very thin compared to other years. GLWS. |

It is correct, RoW tool kits had a tow hook. If you look at a U.S. version Carrera owners manual it won't show the tow hook, German version Carrera owners manuals show the tow hook.

tow hook
I can include a very nice Tow Hook with the tag on it for an additional $150 . Im not interested in selling the tow hook separately . Ill do the kit with the addition of the hook for $600 + shipping .

It's funny how things like tool kits claim a 'specialty chapter' in Porsche history and lore...
Interesting tow hook. Mine is a bit different than that one. It screws into a threaded receptacle on the rear bumper on the other side of the bumper pad than what yours is designed to do. The tool bag also has a red tag compared to your white one. I wonder what the different colours denote. I think the tool kits were put in the cars by the dealers as part of the prep. Maybe they mark the type of kit for different models? Apologies for hijacking your for sale listing, but this kind of stuff is so interesting to me and I just can't help myself. Hopefully it's interesting to others, as well. At least you get a bump out of it. ![]() ![]() ![]() The tow hook receptacle is under the round black plug between the license plate and the rubber baby buggy bumper. ![]()

I'll join in, I love these little nuances too. I'm pretty sure that tow hook with the tag was for US SC's. Mine has the receptacle designed for it in the rear bumper.
But Euro SCs had the screw-type tow hook like you have Kevin. I'm not sure when US Carreras (or SCs for that matter) lost the tow hook. Mark
