Yessir! Yessir!
Cost
Fitting / fixing
Time
Fragility (propensity to dent)
Etc

All those tradeoffs are why I opted out of an aluminum decklid on my build.

Add my name to a tail-less CF G body decklid when the time comes.

Mini Duck Tail

I would highly recommend the mini duck tail if you are considering purchasing one. Superb quality and craftsmanship. John was easy to communicate with and provided a ton of info in regards to the installation process. Total install took me about an hour and a half. I would recommend that you tape of the bottom of the mini duck when installing so as to not cause any scratches. Overall, I am very happy with the end result.

One issue - I have an 84 Carrera with a slick rear bonnet. I found that I had to remove my Carrera script as it interfered with installation. No big deal. I'm undecided at this point if I want to put it back on.

Here are a few photos. Thanks again John.

Still have this one available $575.00 plus $40.00 shipping

Still have one slightly-less-than-perfect (but perfect for paint!) mini ducktail available!

I'm offering it at a discounted price of $575.00 plus $40.00 shipping anywhere in the lower 49

Jonny, did you consider making something closer to a full duck tail?

I think the root of a full duck tail should be further down the lid, so it may not look right.

I've always loved the subtle look and shape of this Mini spoiler, which is one of the reasons I decided to make a replica of it. To my eye it, it would be hard to improve upon.

I've considered making a larger spoiler but at a certain point you're simply better off replacing the whole decklid. I'm a traditionalist, really, so that means either a flat decklid in cf, or a 2.7RS ducktail. Both are in the works, but the decklid will be first.

Great looking mini ducktail! I would definitely be a buyer on one for a 993. Fingers crossed.

Does the ducktail come with the black spacer that sits between the decklid and the tail?

I do not include it - the spoiler is best mounted with a 930 spoiler base seal, available from our host:

Hi Dieter,

Parts are made-to-order, custom basis.

I am working on some new parts which will be available soon. Lately I've been concentrating on making factory style replacement sunroof panels. The design has gone through a few iterations:

https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-used-parts-sale-wanted/1163679-carbon-fiber-sunroof-panel-bolt-factory-style-replica.html

I have shipped parts to a number of US states, Canadian provinces, and to Europe. Shipping cost to Europe for a sunroof or spoiler is around $85 euros via UPS, slightly cheaper for the protection plate (skidplate).

Heading to the shop right now to work on this!

Is there a mini-duck for the active spoilers on the 964 and 993?

Nope, sorry. Although I think there are myriad options available from the numerous purveyors of "Singer-Style" parts for the 964. Here's a good example made in Germany:

https://www.f-s-h.com/Rear-spoiler-Singer-Look-for-964

The only plans I have for 964 parts is a bolt-in factory replacement sunroof.

mini-ducktail

Hi Jon,
I really appreciate your skills and attention to detail.
Might be a dumb question but here goes:
Would one have to swap decklids in order to mount your
SC mini duck on a 964 or is that not even possible?
Thanks!
Peter
(If this is way too dumb a question, plz respond by p.m. so I'm not too embarrassed)

Hi Peter, I am sorry for the slow reply, the forum does not always send me messages when there is a reply to a thread I am subscribed to!

Not a dumb question at all!

Yes, to use this spoiler, you would have to swap to an early style (1989 or earlier) decklid, which would require the use of conversion hinges, from what I can tell.

This would also possibly create issues with mounting the AC condensor, if you still have AC.

If you are interested in lightening the rear of a 964, I am sure there are conversion parts to switch from the motorized 964 spoiler to a nonfunctional spoiler.

If you really want to go all the way with lightening the rear of a 964, a carbon decklid would be the hot ticket (see my IG page for more pics):
