2.2L 911E fresh engine - thinking about selling
Thinking about moving up to a 3.0L engine which I can buy from a friend at a good price for our Vintage/PCA 911 racer if we can sell our in-process rebuild 2.2E long block for $5000 ish + freight. This engine is apart now and will be completely assembled and test run before delivery to the buyer.
History. I purchased this engine 3 years ago from a Denver vintage racer who kept it as a spare. I have no history from the prior owner. Magnesium case is marked 901.101.102 3R. Serial number 6211030. Car was completed a couple years later than planned - you know how that goes. We raced 5 weekends in Colorado this season (our 1st season) and the engine ran well with smooth power build throughout the RPM range. Compression spec is 9.1:1. Red line was limited to 7000 RPM. The engine was tuned by AJRS in Grand Junction after our first outing and is dynoed at 149 HP at 6400 RPM with torque of 135 ft lbs at 5400 RPM using Weber 40 IDA carbs. We will keep the Webers for the 3.0. Steamboat Motorsports is doing the build and is in the process of replacing stock head studs with time certs and ARP head studs, the result of finding a head stud pulling during mid-season head torqueing. New rod bearings, bolts and nuts as the engine is open and easy to do. Assembling with an OEM gasket set. Valves, seats, and rings are all good and do not need to be replaced/machined. We did not split the case so main bearing are not being replaced as the rod bearings look pretty good. Engine has red powder coated 930 valve covers, sheet metal is included and is black powder coated and engine cover painted black. All paint is in VG condition. Alternator was rebuilt last winter and is set to be self exciting. Starter is a one-season use Bosch unit. Distributor has the Pertronix optical/electronic points. Exhaust is not included. We can also rebuild this engine using 2.7 cams for you for an additional $400. Also have Zenith carbs that should be rebuilt for an additional $500. In you are interested name your price and let's talk to see if we have a win-win. Thanks, Chris Wening
