Interesting that Wayne will let you keep this post here since....
I was inquiring about these at Rothsport-Racing here in the Portland area...I will agree to what Erik says above, they are nice units. I went with the Guard TB LSD, but my application is different. -Britain

How does this diff compare to the Kaaz that was being talked about a lot a year or two ago?

I liked the Kaaz differential at the time due mostly to the cost of the differential, as well as the increase in quality over the stock ZF Differential, however, it too was only a 8 plate differential, this differential has 28 plates so as a result will handle a significantly larger amount of torque. It is far more durable then ANY other differential on the market.
So in my opinion it is the best bang for the buck of any differential on the market, period. Let me know if I can help anyone with one of these. Erik Johnson GBox Sales Manager (303) 440-8899 work (303) 895-4828 cell |

Erik, how does 100% lock not cause major push / understeer? I run something like 40 to 65% in my 2 cars, and I don't think more would be better. And I _like_ mild understeer. I'm running wide slicks, but most of our guys are running Hoosier R6's or MPSC's and they are kind of in the same boat.

Erik,
could you elaborate on the locking percentages as jmreiser aluded to? The information on these G50 diffs says the locking percentages are akin to 25 accel 38 decel I believe?

Sorry about the delay in getting this information back out to everyone.
The question at hand here was how does this not cause tons of under or oversteer? Great Question, and probably one of the coolest parts about this differential. It features an Innovative lock timing control system that while under low or normal load conditions, allows the differential to function as a normal open differential, however once load is applied, it smoothly transforms into a 100% fully locking diff. on either the accel or decel side. What this means is basically you get a fully locking differential when you need it, but as when you don't need 100% lock up, when you are turning in, you will not have to fight the breakaway preload of the differential to get the car to dial in to the turn. As you then apply more torque to the differential, it progressively locks up to 100%. Because it is a progressive lockup, which is adjustable, the diff does not induce push or cause the car to oversteer. I hope that this has helped a bit with answering some of the questions here. Again I am sorry that it took me so long to get back with you all on this. Warmest Regards, Erik Johnson GBox Sales Manager (303) 440-8899 work (303) 895-4828 cell |

For those that drive to the track (and generally run less lock on Guards due to the dual-use), how will this function?
